INDIANA – Hyundai is recalling more than 42,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potentially dangerous wiring issue. The recall affects specific 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz and Hyundai Tucson models. The problem stems from a malfunction in the vehicles’ transmissions that may cause them to shift out of “Park” without the brake pedal being pressed, which could lead to the car rolling away.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has stated that owners of the affected vehicles can continue to drive them for the time being. However, the agency advises Hyundai owners to remain aware of the issue.
Hyundai has announced that it will notify owners of the recall by mail starting in January 2024. In the meantime, the company is working on a fix for the problem. Once they receive their notification, owners are encouraged to take their vehicles to a dealership for repairs.
