Loogottee prepares for Annual Tree Lighting Celebration

LOOGOOTEE—The city of Loogootee is gearing up for its highly anticipated Christmas Tree Lighting and Creator’s Day celebration, which will illuminate the downtown square on Sunday, December 1, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mayor Brian Ader has gone the extra mile—quite literally—by traveling to Florida to personally select this year’s centerpiece Christmas tree for the community celebration.

“It will be a festive time to kick off the holiday season,” Mayor Ader noted about the upcoming event, which marks the beginning of Loogootee’s Christmas celebrations.

The evening promises various local flavors and craftsmanship, with food vendors including Acai X Press LLC, Speakeasy Pizza, Casey’s Kettle Corn, McCoy Apple Cider and Peanut Brittle, and A Piece of Cake Bakery. Local businesses, such as The Corner Café and Jolene’s Decorating, will keep their doors open for shopping.

Craft enthusiasts will find plenty to explore with an impressive lineup of local artisans. Featured vendors include Wells Woodcrafts, Ink and Intuition, Creations by Crystal, Potts Family Flames, and several other local craftspeople showcasing their unique creations. In partnership with the City of Loogootee, Hometown Flowers, and Gifts has helped orchestrate this festive community gathering.

The celebration serves as a prelude to the city’s Christmas Parade, scheduled for the following Sunday, December 8th, also taking place on the square. The extended evening hours will give visitors ample time to begin holiday shopping while enjoying the seasonal festivities.

For those planning to attend, the event offers an opportunity to support local businesses and artisans while participating in what promises to be a memorable community celebration to usher in the holiday season.
