Richmond woman killed in fatal crash in Randolph County

RANDOLPH CO. – On Friday, just before 7:00 pm, a two-vehicle crash on US 35 at the intersection of County Road 900 South claimed the life of a Richmond woman.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received the initial call around 6:40 pm.  Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene and requested the assistance of the Indiana State Police Reconstruction Team.

The preliminary investigation conducted by Trooper Blake Stephenson indicated a red 2003 Cadillac, driven by Michelle Elaine Moore, 58, of Richmond, was traveling west on County Road 900 South.  The Cadillac disregarded a stop sign and was struck in the driver’s side door by a box truck driven by Michael Landon England, 56, of New Castle, traveling northbound on US 35.

Michelle Elaine Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her family has been notified of her passing.

At this time, there is no suspicion of drugs or alcohol involved in the crash.  

US 35 was closed for approximately two hours for crash investigation and cleanup.

Trooper Blake Stephenson was assisted by other troopers from the Pendleton District, the Indiana State Police Reconstruction Team, Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Sheriff’s Department,  Losantville Volunteer Fire Department, Blountsville Volunteer Fire Department, Farmland EMS, and Davis Towing.
