LAWRENCE CO. – A Williams man has been charged with battery following multiple incidents on July 27, 2024, involving two separate altercations with individuals at his residence on Water Street.
Dillon Robertson, 25, was arrested on a warrant on a charge of battery, a class A misdemeanor, following allegations that he assaulted several people during a night of confrontation. According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Deputy D. Miller with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, the incidents began earlier that day when Robertson allegedly got into an argument with a male. Robertson told officers that during the argument, he tried to remove the other male from his home, but the other male resisted and punched him several times. Robertson claimed that he never threw a punch but only pushed the male outside.
However, the male’s account differed. The male, along with witnesses, confirmed that Robertson had started the physical confrontation and punched him multiple times. The male victim later declined to press charges and said he acted in self-defense during the altercation.
Later that evening, further reports came to light when two females visited the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to file a battery complaint against Robertson. The two women described an argument with Robertson, where Robertson allegedly threw a phone at one of the women, striking her in the head. Police say the woman had a visible “goose egg” on her head.
The confrontation reportedly escalated later when Robertson, the two women, and the male victim were all at Robertson’s house.
Another physical altercation allegedly took place between Robertson and the male victim. Robertson threw the first punch and landed multiple blows on the male victim until he retaliated in self-defense.
Despite his involvement in the fights, all three decided not to file against Robertson.
Deputy Miller attempted to reach Robertson for questioning during the investigation, but Robertson was not immediately located. He was last known to be staying at an address on Norton Lane in Bedford, though his exact whereabouts remained unclear.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Robertson’s arrest. He was detained on November 30.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
