18-year-old killed in Jackson County Crash on Black Friday

JACKSON CO. — An 18-year-old man is dead after a crash in Jackson County on Black Friday, according to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Friday, November 29, in the 2000 block of East State Road 258, west of Seymour, in Hamilton Township.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that 19-year-old Hannah M. Reedy, from Seymour, was driving eastbound on State Road 258 when she lost control of her vehicle. After losing control, she crossed the center line and collided head-on with a red pickup truck.

18-year-old Michael Carpenter of Freetown drove the pickup truck. Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.

Reedy and her passenger Isaac C. Moore, 19, of Seymour, were both transported to Schneck Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. They were treated and later released.

The crash remains under investigation.
