Authorities investigate explosion at egg production facility in Jackson County

BROWNSTOWN — Jackson County authorities are investigating an explosion that occurred Saturday at an egg production company in Brownstown.

According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, emergency crews were called to the 4000 block east of County Road 800 North, where an explosion was reported at Cort Acres, an egg production facility.

First responders quickly arrived, including the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, and other volunteer fire departments. Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the explosion.

For safety reasons, officials evacuated residents near Cort Acres. Once it was deemed safe, the evacuees were allowed to return to their homes.

There are no further updates regarding the cause of the explosion. Local authorities are still investigating the incident.
