Indiana State Police traffic stop results in discovery of cocaine

KOSCIUSKO CO. – A traffic stop by an Indiana State Trooper on US 30 led to the discovery of three kilos of suspected cocaine and the arrest of a Ft. Wayne man Wednesday afternoon.

On December 4, 2024, at approximately 3:27 p.m., an Indiana State Trooper observed a moving violation on a black 2007 BMW SUV as it traveled eastbound on US 30 in Kosciusko County.  A traffic stop was made near the intersection of US 30 and County Road 150 West.

During the traffic stop, a K-9 from the Warsaw Police Department responded to assist the trooper.  A free-air sniff was conducted, and the K-9 gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics in the BMW.  A subsequent search of the BMW revealed three kilos of suspected cocaine and approximately $3,000 in United States currency.

The driver of the BMW, Jarvis Buchanan, 44, of Ft. Wayne, was arrested for possession of cocaine, a Level 3 felony, and taken to the Kosciusko County Jail.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
