HOLLAND– Holland residents will soon have improved safety and lighting in a beloved park if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $40,000 by Feb. 7, 2025. If successful, the project led by the Town of Holland will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.
“Creating safe, welcoming public spaces where individuals of all ages can gather is crucial to a community’s health and quality of life,” said Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. “This project illustrates how communities can come together to implement attainable improvements that have tremendous impact.”
Funds from this campaign will be used to replace and install new lighting posts along the road and walking spaces in Holland Park.
“Holland Park is looking forward to working hand in hand with IHCDA to make our park even better,” said Melanie Barrett, Council Member, Town of Holland. “This lighting project will increase access and use of our parks, and we’re asking for community support to make it possible.”
Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $11.9 million in public funds and an additional $10.2 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local government units can apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
