Bedford man arrested on drug charges after traffic stop leads to discovery of methamphetamine and marijuana

BEDFORD — A Bedford man was arrested on multiple drug-related charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

According to the Bedford Police Department, officers were initially called to 21-year-old Dylan T. Nunn’s residence on 27th Street at approximately 5:08 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, in response to reports that he was possibly under the influence of narcotics and attempting to break into the basement of his home. When officers arrived, Nunn was not found outside, and no one answered the door. Authorities were familiar with Nunn from previous encounters and noticed that his black Kia Soul, which he frequently drove, was missing.

At 5:19 p.m., officers were notified that the driver of a black Kia Soul was reported driving recklessly in the area. The vehicle was later confirmed to be the one Nunn often drove. About 45 minutes later, Officer J. Landon Jones, stationed at the 32nd Street and Mitchell Road intersection, observed the vehicle traveling north on Mitchell Road. After following the Kia, Jones witnessed the driver make an abrupt U-turn and pull into a nearby gas station.

Upon initiating the traffic stop, Jones identified Nunn as the driver and immediately detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Nunn complied with a request to exit the car, and during a pat-down, he admitted to using illegal narcotics earlier in the day. He also disclosed that he had a marijuana “weed pen” inside the vehicle.

Nunn agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, but during the initial portion of the test, he withdrew his consent. In the meantime, Sergeant Gerkin, who was assisting with the stop, spoke with the passengers, Kayla Bobbs and Lloyd Wilson Jr. A probable cause search of Wilson led to the discovery of a partially-smoked marijuana cigarette in his coat pocket. Wilson was placed in handcuffs and later issued a summons to appear in court on a marijuana possession charge.

During further questioning, Nunn admitted to having methamphetamine inside the vehicle. A search of the Kia uncovered several drug-related items, including a glass smoking device with meth residue, a blue rubber smoking device containing THC wax, and a THC cartridge.

Nunn was then placed under arrest.

At the Bedford Police Department, while being processed, Nunn informed Officer Hatton that he had methamphetamine in his front pocket. A bag containing the drug was retrieved and placed into evidence.

Nunn was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Lloyd Wilson Jr. was released after being issued a summons to appear in court, while Kayla Bobbs was not arrested.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
