BLOOMFIELD—Purdue Extension will host an educational event on December 12 at the Greene County Fairgrounds from 6 to 8 p.m. to teach about sustainable meat rabbit production and its benefits. This is a free session, and everyone interested is welcome to attend.
Sustainable meat rabbit production offers numerous benefits, including efficient resource use, as rabbits require less feed, water, and space than larger livestock. They have a low environmental impact, producing minimal greenhouse gases. Rabbits reproduce quickly, ensuring a consistent meat supply while supporting food security. Their manure serves as an excellent fertilizer, promoting regenerative agriculture. Additionally, rabbit meat is lean, high in protein, and nutritious, making it a healthy, eco-friendly option for conscious consumers.
