LINTON— Greene County General Hospital (GCGH) is excited to announce Director of Surgical Services Jessi King, MSN, RN as its 2024 Outstanding Leader of the Year.
Each year, hospital administration team members accept nominations for this award. King was chosen for always going above and beyond for her team. Employees say King doesn’t treat people as above her or below her, but with her. They say there is no job King will delegate that she won’t do herself. Staff describe King as selfless and say she is always looking for ways to improve processes for the operating room, for the hospital, and most importantly, for our patients and the community. They say King genuinely cares for people, and it shows every day.
King received her Associate of Science in Nursing from Vincennes University in 2012. She then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University in 2013 and earned a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Ball State University in 2020. In addition to GCGH, King’s nursing career has taken her to Sullivan County Community Hospital, The Pain Clinic, and Terre Haute Surgical Center. She previously worked at GCGH’s Covid Vaccine Clinic before being named GCGH Director of Surgical Services in 2021. King says she planned to become a Nurse Practitioner until the leadership opening at GCGH presented itself. King says she is so glad she took the opportunity.

They make coming to work enjoyable and take great care of our patients. I have learned so much from coworkers and some of the best mentors while at GCGH.”, says King.
King lives in Linton and is married with two daughters. She says when she’s not at one of her daughters’ sporting events, she and her family enjoy attending IU Basketball games and spending time at the lake. King also likes to read and garden.
