Officer Kenton Carter, along with officers from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and Bedford Police canine unit, arrived at Nelson’s residence after receiving information about his whereabouts. Upon arrival, they were granted access to the home by a resident.

According to Officer Carter’s report, as officers opened the storm door, Nelson spotted them and immediately fled deeper into the house. Despite multiple commands to stop, Nelson continued through the house and into a connected garage. He eventually complied with officers’ commands and was taken into custody without further incident.

In addition to the original warrant, Nelson now faces an additional misdemeanor charge of resisting law enforcement by fleeing. He was transported to the Lawrence County Security Center following his arrest.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
