Peggy Ann Wood, 86, of Mitchell, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at White River Lodge.
Born June 24, 1938, in Huron, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Gladys (Tolbert) Tincher. She married James R Wood on April 23, 1957, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2021.
Peggy was a 1956 graduate of Huron High School. She had worked as a homemaker for Hoosier Uplands and at Travelers as a cashier. Peggy immensely enjoyed collecting antiques, cookie jars, cookbooks, quilts, and owl figurines. She was an active gardener and a fixture of the Huron Alumni banquets. Peggy loved animals and enjoyed feeding and caring for her stray cats. She was of the Christian faith.
Surviving is her son, Warren Wood of Bedford.
Her parents, husband, son, James Wood, and daughter, Vanessa Wood, preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center, with Pastor Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Friday at the funeral home.
