City of Loogootee to host free public ice skating rink this weekend

LOOGOOTEE – The City of Loogootee is bringing holiday cheer to the community with a free ice skating rink open to the public this weekend. The rink will be set up around the Christmas tree on Thursday, December 19th, with skating opportunities available through Sunday, December 22nd.

Skating times are as follows:

  • Friday, December 20th: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 21st: Noon to 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 22nd: Noon to 5:00 p.m.

There is no need to bring your skates—ice skates will be provided for all participants. While the event is free, donations are welcome to support future community events. Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly and appropriately for the weather.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, several vendors will be set up throughout the weekend, and New Beginnings Church will offer free hot chocolate to keep skaters warm.

The ice skating rink will be east or north of the downtown square, offering a perfect winter activity for families, friends, and community members.
