WASHINGTON — A series of arrests occurred on Tuesday, December 17, following multiple criminal investigations by the Washington Police Department.
The first arrest took place in the afternoon after officers were dispatched to a residence on East Hefron Street regarding a stolen motorcycle.
Later that day, officers located the stolen vehicle at an apartment complex on South Meridian Street. After further investigation, officers made contact with 35-year-old Robert Thompson of Washington. Thompson was arrested without incident on charges of vehicle theft and for an outstanding warrant related to a petition to revoke his suspended sentence.
In a separate incident, Washington Police officers and detectives responded to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Northwest 16th and Cherry Street involving a man with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers detained 20-year-old Pierre Charles of Washington.
The investigation revealed that the crash was linked to an ongoing domestic dispute. Authorities also discovered an airsoft gun resembling a handgun, which was seized. Charles was arrested on multiple charges, including battery with a deadly weapon, intimidation with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, and pointing a firearm. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the case.
Additionally, Washington Police detectives arrested 18-year-old Emery Bibbs of Washington after spotting him near the library.
Bibbs had an active warrant for sexual misconduct with a minor stemming from an investigation involving WPD, Daviess County DCS, and SWICACC. He was arrested without incident.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
