MORGAN CO. — The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has launched an investigation following a reported home invasion early Saturday morning that left a man injured.
According to a post on the MCSO’s official Facebook page, deputies responded to a call around 2:40 a.m. on December 21, 2024, reporting that a 64-year-old man had been attacked in his home. The residence is at 9000 block of State Road 39, just south of Bunker Hill Road.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that the victim’s wife had woken to the sound of her husband screaming. She found him conscious but suffering from head injuries. The man was later transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover from his injuries.
The victim told police that an unknown male assailant attacked him with a large object. However, MCSO investigators said they remain unsure how the suspect entered the home. The victim and his wife were the only individuals present during the attack, and no one else was injured, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities believe the incident to be isolated and are actively investigating the matter. The MCSO released a surveillance photo of a person they believe may be connected to the attack.
Anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the individual in the surveillance image is urged to contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. The department can be reached by phone at (765) 342-5544 or by email at pwilliams@morgancounty.in.gov. For those wishing to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (17-262-TIPS (8477).
