BLOOMINGTON– A structure fire in Bloomington on Monday, December 23, 2024, caused significant damage to a Bloomington home, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. Firefighters were dispatched to the Dinsmore Road residence just after 9 p.m., where they found smoke pouring from the home’s eaves.
Upon arrival, crews made entry and quickly discovered the source of the fire in the kitchen, which had already begun spreading down the hallway. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames swiftly, preventing further damage. They then thoroughly searched the home to ensure the fire had not spread to other areas while working to ventilate the building and remove the lingering smoke.
The residents of the home were not present when the fire broke out. After returning to find the house filled with smoke and flames, they immediately called 911. Investigators have ruled the cause of the fire as accidental, though no further details have been released.
In a heartwarming show of community support, Monroe Fire Protection District firefighters worked alongside other emergency responders to assist the family in salvaging their belongings, including gathering and packing Christmas presents. The Red Cross was contacted to provide emergency assistance to the family for their immediate needs.
The Ellettsville Fire Department and Duke Energy also assisted in securing the area and managing the situation.
The quick and coordinated response from local fire departments ensured that no one was injured in the incident, and the family was receiving support during this challenging time.
