Governor-Elect Mike Braun announces key appointments for his administration

INDIANAPOLIS — Governor-elect Mike Braun has unveiled 20 new appointments to lead various state agencies and departments as his administration prepares to take office in January 2025.

Braun, a Republican, triumphed over Democrat Jennifer McCormick and Libertarian Donald Rainwater in the November general election. He will succeed Republican Governor Eric Holcomb, who is term-limited. Braun’s inauguration is scheduled for January 13, 2025.

In a series of appointments made on Monday, Braun filled several key roles within his cabinet, which includes leaders for agencies spanning health, education, public safety, and infrastructure. Several of these appointments build upon prior announcements, rounding out a diverse team that will help guide the state through its next chapter.

Among the notable new appointments are:

  • Steve Russo: Executive Director of the Indiana Public Retirement System
  • Holly Lambert: Insurance Commissioner
  • Lindsay Hyer: Executive Director of the Professional Licensing Agency
  • Thomas Fite: Director of the Department of Financial Institutions
  • James Michaels: Superintendent of the Indiana School for the Blind
  • Dr. David Geeslin: Superintendent of the Indiana School for the Deaf
  • Dr. Lindsay Weaver: Commissioner of the Indiana State Department of Health
  • Steve Cox: Director of the Indiana Broadband Office
  • Dan Huge: Chairman of the Indiana Finance Authority
  • Don Lamb: Director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture

Braun also announced senior staff appointments, including:

Braun, who previously served as U.S. Senator from Indiana, will take office following the January 13 inauguration ceremony, officially succeeding Governor Eric Holcomb, who has been in office since 2017.
