BEDFORD — The Housing Authority City of Bedford (HACB) has announced that it will close its Public Housing Hamilton Courts waiting list starting January 1, 2025, until further notice. The move comes in response to a growing demand for affordable housing and extended wait times, which currently exceed one year.
The Section 8 waiting list, which helps low-income families secure rental assistance, will remain closed indefinitely. The Housing Authority cites the continued high demand for public housing and Section 8 assistance as the primary reasons for the closure. The Housing Authority will make an announcement when the rental assistance list reopens.
While the Hamilton Courts and Section 8 waiting lists will be temporarily closed, the waiting list for the Hauck House—another affordable housing option in Bedford—will remain open. Pre-applications for the Hauck House are still being accepted.
The Housing Authority has emphasized that they will notify the public when the Hamilton Courts and Section 8 waiting lists reopen. In the meantime, residents are encouraged to explore alternative housing resources or contact the Housing Authority for additional information.
For more details, residents can visit the Housing Authority’s official website or contact the office directly.
