SCOTTSBURG – The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a tragic fire that occurred on Friday, December 20, leaving one person dead and two others injured.
The fire, which took place around 6 p.m. in the 2400 block of East Radio Road, involved a pull-behind camper on a property where the three individuals were permitted to stay. Authorities say the fire began in the camper’s bedroom entryway.
A man tragically died at the scene before he could be transported to the hospital. A woman and a juvenile were rushed to hospitals in Louisville, where they were treated for burns and smoke inhalation.
The fire is still under investigation, with authorities working to determine the cause of the blaze. Officials believe there’s a chance a space heater may have sparked the flames.
The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
