Ryan ‘Jed’ Zumhingst, 70, of Williams, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.
Born August 10, 1954, in Seymour, he was the son of Orville Kenneth and Doris Jeanette (Stroud) Zumhingst. He married Melanie Hanners on May 29, 1999, and she survives. He was a mechanic and owner of Jed’s Auto Service for over 30 years, during which time he touched and helped many people. Recently, he worked at Rural King and Advance Auto. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Surviving with his wife, Melanie, are children Tina Jones and husband, Aaron, of Bedford; Angela Allen and husband, Tony, of Oolitic; James Zumhingst and wife, Jamie, of Ft. Liberty, NC, Emilee Hannum, of Bedford, Ahna Jaime, and husband, Juan Carlos, of Bloomington; step-sons, Evan Burns and wife, Josefa, of Chesapeake, VA and Anthony Burns and wife, Karrie, of Shoals; sisters, Linda Taylor, of Williams, Geri Ann Daugherty, of Avoca, and Debra Zumhingst, of Bedford; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Sorenson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3rd, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
