MONROE CO. — On January 1, 2025, the Monroe Fire Protection District was dispatched to Dittemore Road at approximately 2:20 a.m. for a vehicle accident. As crews were en route, dispatch relayed an update that the vehicle was on fire and that a bystander, a retired firefighter, had helped the driver out of the vehicle.
Upon arrival, Engine 25 found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames and immediately began working to extinguish the fire. Firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control, preventing further damage.
Meanwhile, law enforcement personnel were investigating the scene and discovered that the driver had fled on foot before the arrival of emergency responders. After searching, authorities were able to locate the driver at a nearby address. The individual was subsequently transported to the hospital for evaluation of their injuries.
At this time, the cause of the accident and the extent of the driver’s injuries have not been disclosed. The Monroe Fire Protection District, along with local law enforcement, is continuing to investigate the incident.
