HELTONVILLE – A Heltonville resident faces multiple charges following a domestic disturbance that prompted a law enforcement response on Wednesday, January 3.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers arrived to find the male victim had fled to a nearby wooded area. Officers discovered various weapons, including machetes, axes, and hand tools, scattered around the property during their initial search.

When officers made contact with Reeves, he reportedly exhibited erratic behavior and refused to comply with police commands. The affidavit states Reeves had bloodshot eyes and was behaving in a manner suggesting possible drug influence or mental health concerns.

A man, identified as a family member, reported that Reeves had “become violent out of nowhere” and allegedly grabbed his face, causing visible injuries including scratches, redness, and bleeding. Officers also documented property damage at the residence, including a significant hole in a bedroom door.

During medical clearance at IU Health Bedford, Reeves allegedly admitted to being “a little too hard on his stepdad” and confessed to consuming methamphetamine mixed with alcohol. A glass smoking device was reportedly found at the residence.

Reeves faces preliminary charges of domestic battery resulting in bodily injury and resisting law enforcement. After receiving medical clearance, he was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
