Mitchell man arrested for a third time for violating protective order after requesting a firearm

MITCHELL – A Mitchell resident was arrested for a third time on Tuesday for allegedly violating a protective order after attempting to retrieve a firearm through third-party communication.

Cory Jacks

Cory Allen Jacks, 37, was taken into custody on January 7 after reportedly sending a text message to his ex-girlfriend requesting she contact his protected party about returning his gun.

During the arrest at his Mitchell residence, Jacks reportedly became combative and made several suicidal statements. He was successfully detained with assistance from Mitchell Police Chief Troy Lobosky and transported to Lawrence County Security Center.

After being read about his Miranda rights, Jack admitted to contacting his ex-girlfriend to contact another woman through third-party communication. This incident follows multiple previous protective order violations, including violations while previously incarcerated.

Jacks faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of invasion of privacy under Indiana Code 35-46-1-15.1.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
