Brian D. Wade, 69, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 10, 1955, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of James A. “Tink” and Martha J. (Alhorn) Wade. He married Karen D. Roberts-Bundy on June 18, 1977, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, and she survives. He was a lifetime St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church member and attended St. Vincent Catholic School through 8th grade. A 1973 graduate of Bedford High School, he went on to attend Vincennes University and then went to work at GM Powertrain until his retirement in 2022. He was a member of UAW Local 440 as a Document 46 Internationally appointed Representative over the Work and Family Program.
He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Brian loved hunting and spending time in the woods; he was also an expert at shooting Sporting Clays. He once raised German Shorthair Pointer bird dogs and loved to guide bird hunts with his dogs. He loved all animals, especially their Toy Poodle, Luna. In recent years, he became a champion of feral cats, capturing them to get them spayed and neutered and then continuing to feed and care for them.
Brian is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Karly (Lacey) Wade of Madras, OR; and their children, Kai and Jake; son, Kyle (Amber Nelson) Wade of Indianapolis, IN, and their children, Helena and Mitia; sisters Linda Wade and Susan (Brandon) Whitehouse of Fishers, IN; brothers, Jim (Mary) Wade of Washington, IN, and Barry (Carla) Wade of Bedford, IN; nieces, Jessica (John) Howell and their children, Izzy and Jackson of Washington, IN, and Katie Whitehouse of Fishers, IN, and nephew Zach Whitehouse of Fishers, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, “Tink” and Martha Wade, and his brother, Mark Alan Wade.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will also be at the church on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with the Rosary being prayed at 10:30 a.m.
The Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes of Bedford has been entrusted with Brian’s care and services.
