Schneck Medical Center implements new visitor restrictions amid rise in respiratory infections

SEYMOUR– Schneck Medical Center in Seymour has announced new visitor restrictions starting today, Wednesday, responding to a recent increase in respiratory infections within the community.

The hospital’s new policy limits patient visitors to no more than two individuals per room at any time. The restrictions apply only to immediate family members or significant others identified by the patient, ensuring that only essential visitors are allowed.

Additionally, the hospital is enforcing a strict no-visit rule for anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness. Visitors experiencing any of the following symptoms will be denied entry:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle aches
  • Headache
  • Runny nose
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

To further reduce the spread of illness, Schneck Medical Center requires all visitors to sanitize their hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer before entering and leaving patient rooms.

The hospital’s decision to impose these new measures is part of its ongoing effort to protect patients and staff from spreading illness. With respiratory infections becoming more prevalent in the area, the hospital aims to minimize the risk of exposure and ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Schneck Medical Center urges the community to adhere to these restrictions and take precautions when visiting loved ones to help prevent illness transmission.
