U.S. Marshals searching for former Indiana county councilman and pastor wanted on child molestation charges

MADISON CO. – The U.S. Marshals Service is actively searching for Steve Sumner, a 56-year-old former county councilman and pastor from Madison County, Indiana, who is wanted on 18 counts of child molestation.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Sumner is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities have stated that he is suicidal, a flight risk, and likely has access to a support network that could aid in his evasion.

Sumner is described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, standing 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 215 pounds.

In addition to Sumner, law enforcement is also searching for Sharon Bailey Wood Baker. She is described as 5’7″ tall, weighing 125 pounds, and maybe assisting Sumner in his efforts to avoid capture.

Authorities urge anyone with information about Sumner’s whereabouts to contact the U.S. Marshals Service or local law enforcement.
