LOGANSPORT – On Monday, January 6, one person was arrested after leading the Indiana State Police (ISP) on a pursuit in Cass County.
Shortly after noon on Monday, Master Trooper Chris Miller was patrolling the area of US 25 and US 35 in Logansport, IN, to locate a 2017 gray Toyota passenger vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Ohio. Once located, the vehicle disregarded a stop sign and led Miller on a pursuit through Cass County, reaching speeds of nearly 100 mph.
The pursuit continued into Lincoln, IN, where the vehicle stopped behind a residence. The driver, later identified as 33-year-old Robert M. Jones from Ohio, exited the car, discarded a knife, and fled on foot. He was subsequently taken into custody without incident.
As a result of the pursuit and the following investigation, Jones was preliminarily charged with the following offenses: resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony, possession of a stolen vehicle, a Level 6 felony, criminal recklessness, a Class B misdemeanor, operating a vehicle while never license, a Class C misdemeanor, and reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor.
Trooper Miller received assistance from other members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, and the Galveston Police Department.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
