BEDFORD– On Wednesday, January 8, Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III sentenced 29-year-old Douglas Tyler Holbrook of Bedford to 11 years in the Indiana Department of Correction, with three years to be served on supervised probation.
Holbrook pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including dealing in Schedule III controlled substances, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement, auto theft, and battery resulting in bodily injury.
Holbrook’s charges stemmed from a series of offenses, including a Level 5 felony charge for drug dealing and a Level 6 felony charge for possession of methamphetamine. He was also convicted of resisting law enforcement and auto theft, both Level 6 felonies, as well as a Class A misdemeanor charge for battery. Additionally, Holbrook admitted to violating the terms of his probation several times.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor Josh Scherschel commented on the case: “Upon release from the Indiana Department of Corrections, involving previous crimes, the Defendant committed several more crimes over a short period. The plea agreement between the State of Indiana and the Defendant is an appropriate result in resolving multiple cases. In this case, that result ended up with the Defendant being returned to the Indiana Department of Corrections. We hope that upon his return, he can become a productive member of society.”
