INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Eric J. Holcomb today announced Rebecca Buitendorp has been appointed to the Porter County Circuit Court. This marks Gov. Holcomb’s 120th and final judicial appointment throughout his eight years in office.
“One of the most important constitutional responsibilities of an Indiana governor is to appoint judges to the bench, and to leave that kind of mark on our state’s judiciary is very humbling,” said Gov. Holcomb. “Statewide, our judges make a difference in the lives of Hoosiers every day, and I have every confidence that Judge Buitendorp will do the same.”
Rebecca Buitendorp is the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Porter County Prosecutor’s Office, handling a wide range of cases. She has served in the Lake, St. Joseph, and LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Offices. Buitendorp received her undergraduate degree from Carroll College in 1998 and J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2001. She will fill the vacancy created by Judge Mary DeBoer’s appointment to the Court of Appeals in Sept. 2024.
Buitendorp will be sworn in as Judge on a date to be determined.
