Obituary: LulaBelle Baker Owens

February 27, 1940 – January 9, 2025

LulaBelle Baker Owens, a beloved sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories. She was 84 years old.

Born on February 27, 1940, in Williams, IN, LulaBelle was the youngest daughter of Perry and Evelene Baker. They preceded her in death. She shared a wonderful childhood with her siblings, Susie Weathers, Perry Baker, Jr., Treasa Stalcup, Marilyn Goff, Iva Baker, and Scotty Baker. All but Iva have preceded her in death.

LulaBelle married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Donald Owens, on November 25, 1959, and he preceded her in death. They had four children, Kelli (Clark), Sherri (Mike), Donald (Juli), and Stephanie (Robby); six grandchildren, Audrey, Anna, Joshua, Nicholas, Caleb, and Jordan; five great-grandchildren, Adalee, Easton, Lula, Langston and Baby Boy (expected in April).

There was nothing more important in life to LulaBelle than her family.

LulaBelle was a happy person with a big, infectious laugh. She was a hard worker, from hand milking cows before school to her work in her home, garden, and flowers. To LulaBelle, the most beautiful place on earth was her home in Williams.

LulaBelle loved playing games, word games, in particular, watching basketball, singing, and talking. She never met a stranger. She was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and held to his principles of being a loving servant to her family and others. Her family will miss LulaBelle but are content knowing she is at peace resting with God.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Williams Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
