Charles Franklin ‘Frank’ George, 80, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Keepsake Village of Columbus.
Born March 15, 1944, in Brown County, Indiana, he was the son of Mollie (George) Bowers. Frank was raised by Mollie’s sister, Nellie (George) Dillman, and her husband, Robert.
He married Christine Crowder on August 19, 1977, and she preceded him in death on March 30, 2022. Frank was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from Cummins Engine Company after 36 years of service.
He was an avid racing fan, always rooting for the hometown driver, Tony Stewart, Indianapolis Colts fan, and Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan. Frank and Chris enjoyed traveling in their RV with friends.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Darin (Donna) George, Patricia George, Marty (Rhonda) George, all of Bedford, Deborah (Victor) Bartes, of Brown County, Pam (David) Wilcoxon, of Dunnellon, Florida, Donna (Ted) Loesch, of Nashville, and Roger Burton, of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Dustin George, Derek (Abby) George, Kristy Bartes, Keri Bartes-Walker, Nicole (Zach) Roberson, Brad Burton, Talisha (Logan) Compton; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Christine.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus, Indiana. Burial will follow in Section 87 at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus. Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at the funeral home, 1029 Washington Street, Columbus, Indiana. Visitation will also be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Remnant Church, 130 M Street, Bedford, Indiana.
