OAKLAND CITY — A Bloomfield man was arrested Sunday afternoon after a traffic stop on I-69 near Oakland City for driving more than 90 miles per hour.
At 3:08 p.m., Gibson County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Eric Powell conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevy Impala traveling more than 90 mph on Interstate 69 near the 34.5-mile marker near Oakland City.
According to the Deputy Powell, 59-year-old Dwight Weedon was found to be driving under the influence. In addition to charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Weedon faces charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Weedon was taken into custody following the incident.
Assisting Deputy Powell in his investigation was Sgt. Loren Barchett, Deputies Wes Baumgart and Wyatt Hunt, and Oakland City Police Chief Tim Gaines.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
