BEDFORD – A 28-year-old Indianapolis man faces multiple charges following a medical emergency outside a Bedford Walmart on November 19, 2024, according to Bedford Police Department documents.

Dakota Hey was found unresponsive near the intersection of Becky Skillman Way and Walmart’s south entrance after a passing motorist reported seeing someone in medical distress. Police and emergency medical services responded to the scene around 1:00 p.m.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hey admitted to entering the store and taking air duster canisters despite being barred from the premises the previous day for a similar incident. He was transported to IU Health Bedford for medical treatment.

Hey faces charges including theft, criminal trespass, and inhaling toxic vapors. Police say store surveillance footage from November 18 and 19 documented the incidents.

The case was filed with the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office. A warrant was issued for Hey’s arrest. He was arrested on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
