BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington South swept to wins over Bedford North Lawrence during high school swimming action on Tuesday.
The Panthers posted a 115-66 win over the Stars in the girls meet, and they recorded a 125-53 triumph in the boys meet.
BNL claimed three wins in the girls meet. Emma Heinzman touched first in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.23, Cookie King won the 100 butterfly in 1:06.57, and Ava Lipp powered to the wall in 1:05.69 in the 100 backstroke.
“We continue to pay the price for all the time off last week,” BNL coach Adam Young said. “Still, there were some bright points. Our distance team on the girls side continues to improve. We picked up a few wins.”
Garrett Gabhart had the lone win for BNL in the boys meet, as he took the 100 butterfly in 54.13.
“No doubt in my mind that the South boys are probably one of the three best teams in the state,” Young said. “Hopefully we can get back on track with conditioning and skills as we return to regular practice. The girls season is in its final month and we have some big goals for the end of the season.”
BNL will host the Hoosier Hills Conference girls meet on Thursday (prelims) and Saturday (finals).
