Governor Mike Braun orders flags to fly at full-staff on Inauguration Day

INDIANA – Indiana Governor Mike Braun has issued an executive order directing all state flags to be flown at full-staff on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2025.

The announcement follows a similar directive from House Speaker Mike Johnson, who had also ordered flags to return to full height on the same day.

This order comes after mourning for the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, during which all state and government flags across Indiana were flown at half-staff to honor his memory.

Following the inauguration of President Donald Trump next Monday, flags will be returned to half-staff as part of the traditional observance for the occasion. Governor Braun’s decision highlights the state’s respect for the incoming administration and the ceremonial importance of the presidential transition.
