BEDFORD – A Mitchell man was sentenced to 500 days in the Indiana Department of Correction after failing to comply with the terms of his probation. Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline handed down the sentence.

Stephen Stidham, 55, had pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, as part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana on November 16, 2024. Under the agreement, he was initially sentenced to 545 days, with 537 days suspended, and ordered to serve 365 days on supervised probation.
However, after failing to meet the conditions of his probation, Judge Cline revoked the probation and imposed a prison sentence. Stidham will now serve 500 days in the Indiana Department of Correction, and his probation was terminated unsuccessfully.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Meza represented the State in the case.

According to Judge Cline, this is a reminder of the consequences of not adhering to the conditions of probation, a legal tool designed to allow individuals an opportunity for rehabilitation while ensuring accountability.
