BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence will seek to start a new winning streak when the Stars travel to Edgewood on Saturday night.
The Stars (7-5) had midseason momentum until their loss at Seymour. Now they will make a journey to face a rested, prepared opponent. The Mustangs have had an entire week to scout and strategize for their annual clash with BNL.
BNL has won three straight in the series to lead the overall count 37-8. Last year, the Stars rolled to a 55-43 victory as Patric Matson scored 16 points and Noah Godlevske added 14.
Edgewood (7-5) will feature a balanced attack with senior Owen McGovern (11.1 points, 7.3 rebounds) and 6-7 sophomore Caden Jones (10.8 points and the top perimeter shooting threat) leading the way.
“We can put five players on the court that are scoring threats,” Edgewood coach Matt Wadsworth said. “We try to use that to our advantage. We have been effective in scoring in the paint this season on drives and post-feed.”
BNL will counter with the senior trio of Matson (21.7), Logan Miracle (10.2) and Quincy Pickett (9.6).
“BNL seems similar to the BNL teams we’ve faced the past few seasons,” Wadsworth said. “They have good outside shooting. All of their players are physical on the defensive end. BNL isn’t a team you want to chase from behind. It is essential to build an early lead to succeed.”
