Greencastle man dies after golf cart breaks through ice on Glenn Flint Lake

PUTNAM CO. – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a Greencastle man who fell through the ice on Glenn Flint Lake early Sunday morning.

At approximately 12:46 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the lake after receiving reports that a golf cart had broken through the ice.

Upon arrival, first responders located and removed 60-year-old Jeffrey Nowak from the water and immediately began life-saving efforts. Nowak was transported to Putnam County Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The incident remains under investigation.

Responding agencies included the Bellmore Fire Department, Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Department, Bainbridge Community Volunteer Fire Department, Putnam County Emergency Services, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, and the Indiana State Police.
