Chase Cummings seeking role of Lawrence County Republican Party Chairman

LAWRENCE CO. – Chase Cummings, lifelong resident of Lawrence County and avid Republican Party supporter, is announcing his candidacy for chairman of the Lawrence County Republican Party.

Chase Cummings

Cummings is a 2019 Bedford North Lawrence High School graduate who attended the International Barber Academy. He practices his trade as an advanced master barber at Steele’s Barber Shop in Bedford.

“I am a life-long Republican, and I cherish the conservative values we hold dear,” Cummings said. “My love of the party began early. During my junior year in high school, I organized and led a pro-Second Amendment peaceful counter-protest that outnumbered our opposition 3-to-1. In February of 2020, I successfully re-established the Young Republicans Club of Lawrence County with the guidance of Party Chairman Chris May. I served a term as chairman of the club and am currently in the role of vice chairman. Despite being limited in activities due to COVID-19, in 2020, we could host five meetings, co-host the Inaugural BBQ with the Blue, and raise $2,700 in a short year filled with hardships.

In addition, Cummings has served as a Poll Inspector and a Judge on Election Day to further his knowledge of Indiana Election Laws, the Microvote Infinity voting machines, and the entire voting process.

Cummings has been a part of several successful Republican campaigns, including Lawrence County Prosecutor Sam Arp (2018), Bedford City Mayor Sam Craig (2019 and 2023), Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day (2022), Bedford City Councilman Dan Bortner (2023), Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III, Lawrence County Councilman Scott Smith (2024), as well as his campaign for Marshall Township Advisory Board in 2022, and served as the county coordinator of Lawrence County for Eric Doden’s Governor campaign (2024).

“While some people might view my age as a downfall, I see it as an opportunity to create energy and grow momentum for our Grand Old Party in Lawrence County,” Cummings said. “Anyone who knows me knows that I am a dedicated Republican, and I will take that dedication and commit it toward leading our party into the future. “Together, I truly believe we can continue to grow the Republican Party without losing focus on our true conservative ideals. We must maintain the overwhelming Republican Party majority in Lawrence County, and I am fully prepared to make that happen!”

Joining Cummings would be a slate of candidates, including Connie Cracraft Koch as vice chairwoman, Henry Shetler as secretary, and McKenzie Messmore Spires as treasurer.
