SEYMOUR — A Seymour man died following a multi-vehicle crash on Friday morning on U.S. 50 in Jackson County.
According to Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer, deputies responded to the crash scene involving a car, an SUV, and a pickup truck at the intersection of U.S. 50 and County Road 375 North.
The crash occurred when Gary Jacobi, driving a westbound SUV, turned onto County Road 375 North and rear-ended a pickup truck driven by Michael Stevens of Orleans. The impact pushed Jacobi’s SUV into the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by a car driven by Maria Felipe-Nicolas of Seymour.
Jacobi, who sustained fatal injuries in the collision, was pronounced dead by the Jackson County coroner’s office. Felipe-Nicolas and the other occupants in her vehicle suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital by medics.
The accident remains under investigation, with toxicology reports still pending, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the State Police Crash Reconstruction team, Seymour Police Department.
