Home destroyed by fire in Unionville

UNIONVILLE – A home in the 5000 block of North Brummetts Creek Road was destroyed by fire Tuesday night. Monroe County Fire Protection District fire crews were dispatched to the scene shortly after 6:30 p.m. and found the home engulfed in flames.

Due to the fire’s intensity and the building’s structural instability, firefighters adopted a defensive strategy, battling the blaze from the outside. The house eventually collapsed, leaving a large pile of debris in the basement. Crews remained on the scene for several hours to extinguish all remaining hot spots.

No injuries were reported—a neighbor who spotted the fire called 911. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Responding units included Engines 24, 25, and 22, Ellettsville 81, Tender 25, Battalion Chief 22, and Chiefs 21 and 23. Additional off-duty personnel and water tenders from Stations 22 and 24 were also called to assist with water supply operations.
