Speed feedback sign installation planned for INDOT Southwest District

SOUTHWEST DISTRICT– The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the installation of speed feedback signs in INDOT’s Southwest District.

Speed feedback signs are being installed to help encourage slower speeds in Indiana communities. Signs will be placed on state roads as speed limits are reduced in communities across the district.

Each sign alerts drivers of their current speed compared to the posted speed limit. Drivers are notified to ‘slow down’ when their speed exceeds the posted speed limit.

The installation process is expected to be complete by mid-spring. Speed feedback signs are a part of INDOT Southwest District’s Safety Rapid Deployment initiative. These signs have been proven to reduce speeds and improve roadway safety.

Speed feedback signs are intended to alert drivers of their speed and will not be used to issue tickets.
