Trooper locates and recovers stolen vehicle on Interstate 70 near New Castle

NEW CASTLE – On Tuesday, February 4, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Trooper Avery Weisbrodt was on patrol in Henry County when he located a reported stolen vehicle near the 123-mile marker on Interstate 70.

Trooper Weisbrodt received information the stolen vehicle, a 2022 Toyota Highlander, was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 from the 142-mile marker.  The vehicle’s owner reported the car stolen from New York two days prior.  After locating the vehicle, Trooper Weisbrodt was able to take the driver into custody.

The driver, identified as Olalekan Stanley Olawoye, 27, of Indianapolis, was arrested and preliminarily charged with:

  • Auto Theft, a Level 6 Felony.
  • Unauthorized entry of a vehicle, a Class B Misdemeanor.

Trooper Weisbrodt transported Olawoye to the Henry County Jail without further incident.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
