Caller threatened for information, Heltonville man detained

HELTONVILLE – A Heltonville man was arrested on Saturday, February 8th after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a disturbance in the 2000 block of Fairview Mundell Road.

Officers arrested 51-year-old Chadwick Wilson, on a misdemeanor charge of battery.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy D. Miller, the Lawrence County Dispatch received calls from a man reporting Wilson had come to their house and threatened him. Chadwick’s wife then called reporting Wilson had made suicidal threats.

Deputy Miller, along with Sgt. Compton and Deputy T. Porter, responded to the residence but Chadwick was not present. The male told police Wilson was agitated due to believing his wife had cheated on him. Wilson demanded the male tell him where the man who was believed to had the affair with his wife lived but the caller refused to tell Wilson. So Wilson chased the caller, grabbed him by the collar and threatened him. A witness corroborated the incident. The male caller signed a battery affidavit.

Indiana State Police Trooper J. Crane locate Wilson in Monroe County. Deputies Miller and Porter traveled to Monroe County and interviewed Wilson after reading him his Miranda Rights. Wilson admitted going to the residence to obtain information, about the alleged affair. He denied any intention of harming the caller, but did admit to grabbing the male by the collar.

Chadwick Wilson was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He informed deputies he had consumed alcohol earlier in the day. A portable breath test administered by Deputy Porter showed a blood alcohol content of 0.113 percent. Wilson also stated that he had previously experienced suicidal ideations but denied having any at the time of the arrest.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
