INDIANA – Tri-Union Seafoods has issued a recall for select canned tuna products sold at major retailers, including Costco, H-E-B, Kroger, Trader Joe’s, and Walmart, due to a defect in the “easy open” pull tab lids.

The defect may lead to improper sealing, posing a risk of leakage and potential contamination with Clostridium botulinum, which can cause botulism.
While no illnesses have been reported, botulism can cause severe symptoms, including muscle weakness, vision problems, difficulty speaking, and breathing difficulties.
Consumers who have purchased the recalled tuna should return it for a full refund or contact Tri-Union Seafoods at 833-374-0171 for a retrieval kit and coupon
