BEDFORD— In a special meeting held Friday, the Bedford Plan Commission unanimously approved rezoning requests for three properties, paving the way for the development of new duplexes aimed at replacing aging structures.
Developer Derek Stutz presented proposals to rezone the following properties:
- 2017 29th Street (including Lots 10, 11, and part of 12)
- 2030 28th Street
- Parcel #47-06-22-441-066.000-010
The planned development, named “Sunrise Suites,” will feature multiple duplex units across these sites. Stutz’s initiative aims to revitalize the area by replacing dilapidated houses with modern, functional housing.
Each rezoning request was subject to a public hearing during the meeting, and the commission voted unanimously in favor of all three proposals, signaling strong support for the project.
The approval marks a significant step forward in addressing housing concerns in Bedford, promising updated living spaces and contributing to the city’s ongoing development efforts. With the rezoning request approved by the board, the issue will now be voted on to be finalized by the City Council on Tuesday, February 18.
