
INDIANA – Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott announced today the promotion of Lieutenant Allen J. Williamson to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to serve as the Deputy Superintendent of the Investigations Bureau.

Williamson graduated from New Prairie High School in 1981 (La Porte County). He received his bachelor’s degree in public and environmental affairs from Indiana University at Bloomington, specializing in criminal justice. In December 1987, Williamson graduated from the 45th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed a Trooper assigned to the Toll Road Post. In 1989, he transferred to the Lowell Post and was assigned patrol duties in Porter and La Porte Counties.
In 1996, he was reassigned as a detective at the Lowell District. In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant and served as the Investigative Squad Leader at the Toll Road Post.
In 2009, Williamson transferred back to the Lowell Post as that District’s Investigative Squad Leader until April 2017, when he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Area I Investigative Commander.
Lieutenant Colonel Williamson will oversee Field Investigations, Drug Investigations, Investigative Support, Special Investigations, and the Laboratory Division. He and his family live in Madison County.
