Man arrested after wooded search following Daviess County shooting

DAVIESS CO. – A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Daviess County has been apprehended after an extensive search.

Posey County Sheriff’s Deputies confirmed that Alex J. Carlquist was taken into custody Saturday morning in the Oriole/Branchville area following a search of the woods.

The search began after Indiana State Police identified Carlquist as a suspect in a shooting that occurred in Daviess County around 2:05 a.m. Friday. The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reported that they received a call from Martin County requesting assistance for a shooting at 15075 North US Highway 231.

Upon arrival, deputies and EMS personnel found a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Daviess Community Hospital and transferred to another medical facility. Officials have stated that the victim is currently in stable condition.

Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
