The Star System Percussions place 4th at first competition

FRANKLIN – On Saturday, February 15th, the Bedford North Lawrence (BNL) Star System Percussion group performed their show “Welcome to Our Circus” at Franklin Central High School.

The Star System Percussion is a winter percussion group that goes to competitions and plays like marching bands but only uses percussion instruments and performs in gymnasiums.

This year, the Star System Percussion is performing in the concert class, which means there are no actual marching instruments in their show. The group uses instruments such as timpani, marimbas, vibraphones, and a drum set. Each member also dresses up as a character that you might find in a circus, such as a ringmaster, a popcorn vendor, a magician, or a clown.

The Stars placed 4th out of 7 groups, tying with Pike Central with a score of 65.600.

Their next performance is on Saturday, February 22nd, at Decatur Central High School. Come support the Star System Percussion.
